A few weeks ago, my Austrian booker asked me if I want to go to Milan and find an agency there. Beside Paris, New York and London, Milan is one of the fashion capitals where you can find lots of models and also agencies, but only very few of them are good.
For reference, you can go to www.models.com and check if the agency is listed there, that's always a good sign. It's even better when the agency is listed under "Top agencies" of the city. I consider myself very lucky that I had the opportunity to visit 4 different agencies, all of them were listed under "Top agencies Milan", but more of it later.
Since I took my boyfriend with me we decided to make a little road trip with the car instead of taking the plane. My appointments were scheduled on Monday and Tuesday so we decided to leave our hometown on Sunday morning. But first, we ate some fruits, scrambled eggs and fresh bread for breakfast before we left our city.
After 6 hours of driving, we finally arrived in Milan. My boyfriend and I rented an apartment in Brera, the very center of Milan. The landlords Daniela and Lorenzo were so nice, I think probably the nicest people we've ever met on AirBnB. They gave us the opportunity to park our car at their house without charging any money, and after they brought us into the apartment and showed us the district. The apartment was beautifully prepared, Daniela bought some fresh fruit, a little breakfast for the next morning and water. Also, and I really appreciate that, she bought pasta and some tomato sauce so that we could cook something. We travelled a lot via AirBnB, but normally the apartments are really empty, you can't even find such basic stuff like olive oil or salt. The apartment was freshly renovated, very spacious and also lovely decorated.
After our arrival, we decided to walk around a bit. We ate the best pizza in the world and did some touristy stuff.
I didn't expect much of Milan because so many models told me that it's not as beautiful as other cities are and they might be right, but Milan is lovely! The people are relaxed and it's way less hectic than Paris.
On Monday, I got two appointments: One with Fashion Models Milan and in the afternoon I went to Women Milan. On Tuesday, I got another two appointments with Why Not Models and Elite Models. It feels weird when you are aware that very famous models like Toni Garrn, Cara Delevigne, Isabeli Fontana or Kendall Jenner are placed at the exact same agencies who want to see you. Between my appointments, we walked around the city even more. I'm so happy that my boyfriend went with me because I get lost easily if I don't know a city very well. And without internet on the phone, it's even harder to have some orientation. Fortunately he's much more talented than I am so we didn't have any problems finding all the agencies.
If agencies like this want to see you, it doesn't necessarily mean that they want to represent you, so it's still possible (and not even unlikely) to be denied at every agency. On Tuesday afternoon, I had visited every agency and was now in the lucky position to be able to decide which one I want to pick. In the end I made the choice to sign with Women Milan which I'm very happy about. The team seemed really nice and caring and one of my favorite models, Sasha Luss, is signed with them. In the afternoon we went back to Austria and it took ages to drive home because there was so much traffic. We still arrived safely at home at around 3am.
So to wrap it up: I will work in Milan the whole July, so I will be blogging from Italy to keep you posted. If you're interested in some special topic, please let me know! Thank you for your readership, this blog is now already bigger than I ever expected!
